L’acteur américain Paul Reubens, célèbre pour son personnage Pee-wee Herman, est décédé après une bataille de six ans contre un cancer, qu’il avait gardé privée.
Pee-wee Herman est devenu un phénomène culturel grâce à des films et des émissions de télévision, notamment « Pee-wee’s Big Adventure » et « Pee-wee’s Playhouse ».
Paul Reubens a toujours ressenti un énorme amour et respect de la part de ses amis, fans et soutiens, et il a pris plaisir à créer de l’art pour eux. Il avait créé Pee-wee dans les années 1970 lorsqu’il faisait partie du groupe d’improvisation The Groundlings.
Le personnage a été présenté dans le spectacle « The Pee-wee Herman Show » en 1981 et a ensuite été porté sur grand écran dans « Pee-wee’s Big Adventure » en 1985.
La série télévisée « Pee-wee’s Playhouse » a été un grand succès, remportant 22 Emmy Awards et attirant un public de tous âges.
Malgré les spéculations sur le public cible, Paul Reubens a toujours déclaré que Pee-wee était destiné aux enfants, tout en censurant le contenu pour le rendre adapté à un jeune public.
