Le coup d’envoi de la 11e édition des Jeux des îles de l’océan Indien (JIOI) a été donné cet après-midi à Antananarivo, la capitale malgache. Le pays hôte de cette joute régionale prépare plus de trois heures de spectacles, avec la participation de plus de 4 200 figurants, des effets spéciaux, de show laser. A cela s’ajouteront également le feu d’artifice, un conert live…
Ce grand show se déroulera au stade Barea qui ouvrira ses portes à partir de 15h30 heures locales. Il sera également marqué par l’arrivée de la flamme des Jeux et le défilé des athlètes et délégations des pays participants à savoir l‘île Maurice, les Seychelles, les Comores, la Maldives, La Réunion, Mayotte et Madagascar. Le couple présidentiel malgache assistera à cette cérémonie, selon le programme diffusé par les organisateurs.
C’est la délégation Réunionnaise, forte de ses 500 athlètes qui a ouvert le défilé des participants. Ainsi, le drapeau tricolore a flotté sur le stade de Barea, lors du passage des athlètes devant les autorités malgaches.
